In a place called Menorca, in the middle of the Mediterranean, lies a hidden gem among golden fields and forests of centuries-old holm oaks: a typical Menorcan country house whose origins go back to pre-Roman times.
Built in the 18th century, during the island’s first British occupation, the imposing main house stands as a witness to the history that has shaped these lands over the centuries. A 600-square-metre boyera (livestock barn), whose inner inscription dates from 1771, was at the time the largest on the whole island, reflecting the grandeur and prosperity of those bygone days.
In 1987, a visionary British couple of ornithologists transformed this estate into one of the first agrotourism properties in Menorca, blending the charm of the old with the comforts of the modern. Today, this estate is a haven of peace and serenity, where every corner breathes the very essence of the island.
With a total of ten rooms, nine of them on the ground floor, former farmworkers’ homes converted into spaces of comfort and well-being. The tenth bedroom occupies the space of the old garden cottage, recalling times past while offering guests maximum comfort.
Each room is a work of art in itself, where traditional materials such as marès stone and wooden beams merge with modern comforts. The colours of Menorca’s nature bring these rooms to life, each with its own character and charm, just like our valued guests, who find in this place their home away from home.
On the grounds of the estate, organic vegetable gardens have been set up where guests can harvest vegetables and fruit directly, connecting with the land and its produce in an intimate and authentic way. In addition, a paddock area offers the chance to witness natural horse training with the estate’s horses, a unique experience that celebrates the relationship between man and the noble steed.
With a firm commitment to sustainability, the estate is supplied with water from its own well and energy from renewable sources, such as wind and solar power, through a cooperative that promotes the use of green energy.
